Creating a custom-fit hearing aid
If you're interested in purchasing a custom-fit hearing aid, your order will require additional services and an added cost.
Creating a custom-fit hearing aid involves a detailed process to ensure optimal comfort and performance.
Here's what you can expect:
Why an Ear Impression Is Necessary
To achieve a personalized fit, an audiologist takes a physical or digital impression of your ear canal. This captures the unique contours of your ear, allowing the manufacturer to craft a hearing aid that fits precisely, enhancing sound quality and reducing feedback or whistling noises.

What to Expect During Your Appointment
The ear impression procedure typically adds about 15–20 minutes to your appointment. The audiologist will inspect your ear canal for any obstructions or issues, insert a protective otoblock to safeguard your eardrum, and then fill the ear canal with impression material. You may be asked to keep your jaw steady using a bite block to ensure an accurate impression.
Manufacturing and Wait Time
After the impression is taken, it's sent to the manufacturer to create your custom hearing aid. This process typically takes several weeks, as the device is meticulously crafted to match your ear's anatomy.
Additional Cost
Due to the specialized nature of custom-fit hearing aids, there is an additional one-time charge of $500 that will be added to your order. This covers the extra time for the impression procedure, the bespoke manufacturing process, and ensures a device tailored specifically to your needs.
